Objectives

Target Audience:

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of urologist involved in the care of patients with prostate cancer.

Educational Objectives:

After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:

  • 1. Outline strategies to effectively reduce positive margin rates
  • 2. Describe the key steps involved in performing robot assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy including: prostate, apical, pelvic lymph node, seminal vesical and bladderneck dissection; nerve preservation; anastomosis.
  • 3. Summarize technical approaches for challenging cases: large prostate volume, patients with high BMI, patients with previous abdominal surgeries.
  • 4. List key anatomical landmarks related to robot assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy
  • 5. Identify strategies to manage intraoperative complications
